Book In A Common Destiny, photographer Cédric Delsaux shows a world in which humans and nature are increasingly at odds. But these images—including a series from the ghost town of Pripyat, Ukraine (above), where the Chernobyl disaster occurred—are not about journalism or polemics. In an interview printed in the book, Delsaux says of his yearlong photographic journey around the globe, “I am filled with admiration, hatred, fascination, and disgust all at once.” Paging through image after image of terrible beauty, one cannot help agreeing with him. $75; The Monacelli Press
