What if a condo’s interior, usually separated by walls, kitchen bar, and the like, could in turn fit inside a fully customizable 10 foot x 10 foot x 10 foot cube? Toronto-based developer Urban Capital (the team behind the Smart House microcondos), partnered with Venice and Stockholm-based Nichetto Studios, revealed just that with their latest boxed solution at Toronto’s 2015 Interior Design Show.

Like the myriad of bespoke products on the market, the CUBITAT concept offers homeowners a design-oriented, adaptable cube that maximizes usability and space. The custom architectural solution is suited for everyone, anywhere—from a small New York City flat to a country cottage, the cube can be shipped and even hoisted on a condo floor during construction.

Envisioned as a mobile object, Urban Capital co-founder David Wex said in a press release that “CUBITAT is about a more intelligent, holistic way to design and construct our living environments, taking cues from the prefab world and modern production methods.” The kitchen, bedroom, lounge, and bathroom can all be contained in the cube, in addition to the multitude of drawers and storing spaces. There are no set ways to use this shrunken house—although a roof might help. It is, however, still in prototype phase, meaning this Rubik’s Cube of sorts is not yet ready for play.
