The prevailing trend at this year’s Cersaie in Bologna, Italy, was wood that isn’t wood. Rather, it’s porcelain or ceramic tile that looks—and sometimes even feels—like wood. Almost. It seemed like nearly each of the 872 exhibitors in the Bologna Fiere had a wood line they were proud to show off. However, several companies that added their own interpretation to the movement stood out. Whether it’s quadrilateral shapes or growth rings, these four products made the faux wood trend their own.
Loop, 41 Zero 42
Inspired by the growth rings of a tree, Modena, Italy–based ceramic company 41 Zero 42 designed a porcelain tile that highlights the lifestory of a tree. Graven, Provenza
As part of Italian tile company Provenza’s Provoak Collection, Graven mimicks the color and grain of natural oak, but with a hammered metal–like finish. The 8″-by-48″ dry-pressed ceramic tiles come in five colors and are suitable for indoor wall applications. emilgroup.it
