PEOPLE: installer, Intrinsic Landscaping Inc., Glenview, Ill.GREEN POINTS: Calamos Investments chose a green roof to replace the ballast-covered roof area surrounding its tenth-floor rooftop patio. A pre-vegetated mat was covered with 4 inches (102 mm) of extensive growing media, incorporating 12 species of sedum. Other roof components include a drainage layer, root barrier, insulation, air layer, moisture-retention mat, flora drain and system filter. The 3,088-square-foot (287-m2) roof can be viewed from the rooftop patio and out of conference rooms and executive offices. The project won the 2007 Extensive Industrial/Commercial green-roof award from Green Roofs for Healthy Cities, Toronto.
