The 2015 Sony World Photography Awards announced its shortlist on Tuesday. This year’s competition received the most entries ever—173,444 from 171 countries, a 24 percent increase from 2014. Currently on its eighth year, the competition is judged anonymously by experts from the World Photographic Academy, which promotes the advancement of photography.
Below are a few of ARCHITECT staff favorites from the shortlisted entries, which span professional, open, and youth categories. The panel will announce each categories’ winners on April 23rd.
Cyprien Roy is an editorial intern at ARCHITECT. He studied
journalism at the University of the Arts in London. A recent transplant to
Washington, D.C., he not only looks forward to exploring the city, but also hopes to call it home in the future.
