Shortlist Concepts for the National Pulse Memorial & Museum on Display in Orlando

The OnePulse Foundation, an Orlando, Fla.-based non-profit created to honor those killed and impacted by the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting, has opened an exhibition displaying designs for organization’s National Pulse Memorial & Museum. After announcing a shortlist of six architect-led teams in May, OnePulse now invites the public to provide commentary on the concepts proposed by each team. OnePulse will then share the community feedback with the jury, integrating community opinion before they select a winner on Oct. 30.

OnePulse opened an international design competition for the memorial in March, drawing 68 entries from 19 countries around the world. As required by the competition, each team integrated all or part of the original Pulse nightclub building into their design proposals and collaborated with the community to devise structures that “reflect the six words that emerged from the [OnePulse] Foundation’s memorial survey: love, hope, unity, acceptance, courage and strength,” according to a OnePulse press release.
