JELD-WEN chooses winning student door designs

1 MIN READ

The door designs of two college students have been selected as the grand-prize winners in the JELD-WEN Student Door Design Contest. The contest, which highlights the window and door manufacturer’s custom capabilities, drew a record 349 entries from 89 colleges. Each winner received a $3,000 scholarship.

Jen Gilmore, a first-year architecture student at the University of Maine at Augusta, designed a nature-inspired entry door system, complete with sidelights and transom, that incorporates the outline of a tree.

Michelle Pyne, a senior interior design student at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, created a modern door of symmetrical proportions and clean lines inspired by a 1902 Frank Lloyd Wright house.
