The Washington, D.C. chapter of the AIA (AIA|DC) will present 30 awards celebrating the year’s outstanding achievements in architectural design at its annual Chapter Design Awards ceremony. Selected from a pool of 181 entries produced by 80 firms, the awards recognize exemplary work in four categories including architecture, interior architecture, historic resources, and urban design/master planning, the latter of which was added this year. Presidential Citations will be awarded in universal design and and sustainable design.
The ceremony and reception, which will take place on Dec. 16 at the District Architecture Center, is hosted by AIA|DC president Sean Nohelty, AIA, over hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. The evening also marks the premiere of The Showstoppers! 2014 Chapter Design Awards exhibition, on view and free to the public in the SIGAL Gallery, from Dec. 12-Jan. 3.

“Our latest Chapter Design Award winners show the outstanding quality of work being done in Washington by local and international firms, and the great work our members do across the country. The jurors were quite impressed,” said Mary Fitch, executive director of the AIA|DC, in a press release.
