About 50% of emerging professionals in the architecture field are women and/or racially and ethnically diverse.

While the diversity of new architecture hires stagnated during the pandemic (most likely due to an overall hiring slowdown, according to Department of Labor data), AIA’s 2022 Firm Survey Report showed that roughly half of emerging professionals (workers who have between 0 and 10 years of experience) at architecture firms are women, and almost half identify as a member of a racially and/or ethnically diverse demographic group. Both shares are expected to grow in coming years.
