iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch owners can now gain access at any time to an index of more than 32,000 works of modern and contemporary art in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) using the recently released MoMA App, now available for free download from Apple’s iTunes App Store. In addition to the museum’s collections, app users can get information on exhibitions, film screenings, and events from MoMA’s calendar to help plan a visit. The MoMA App also allows users to listen to audio tours, take photos while in the museum to send as postcards, and access a dictionary of art terms and a database of artist biographies. By selecting tracks from their device’s music library through the app, users also can create a custom musical score to accompany their tour through the museum.

Designed in-house at MoMA, the app has an engaging and attractive visual interface that’s easy to navigate. Users also have access to a variety of resources on iTunes, iTunesU, and YouTube.
