The EPA’s WaterSense Single-Family New Home Specification, under which homes will use 20% less water than typical new houses, was finalized Dec. 9.
With features including WaterSense-labeled fixtures, water-efficient landscaping and irrigation, and an efficient hot-water delivery system, WaterSense-certified homes will save more than 10,000 gallons of water per year, the EPA estimates. Houses must be inspected and certified by EPA-licensed certification providers.
