The NAHB announced that 500 homes have been certified to the ANSI National Green Building Standard or to the Model Green Home Building Guidelines. Achieving the milestone was a single-family home built by Chamberlain & McCreery in the Villages of White Oak development in Arlington, Tenn. Of those houses, more than 100 were certified under the standard.The home is featured on the Memphis Area Home Builders Association’s Parade of Homes, which began Oct. 10. “We’re excited to be part of the first show in America with multiple homes certified by NAHB,” says the builder’s spokesperson Jessica Chamberlain. “We believe that energy-efficient and environmentally conscious homes are the future for the new-homes market.”

According to the NAHB, North Carolina has the most certifications at 99, and one-quarter of those were built by Winston-Salem-based Shugart Enterprises.
