Project Description

That’s a Maintenance Building?, I didn’t know what that was! Often times, a building takes on a different look from what it is perceived to be. After all, Maintenance Buildings are Metal Quonset Huts, with trucks and mechanics and dust in the air. But take another look at the architecture that claims to be a Maintenance Building; tucked into a hillside, plenty of glass, defined paths of vehicular circulation and security. Posed on a site surrounded by elevated highways and rapid transit, the overall details get lost to the people whizzing by; but not the people who live and work immediately adjacent to this yard. Look at how the architecture provides both a distinctive shape, yet unobtrusive to the neighborhood. This architecture is designed to respond to specific functions, define and restrict circulation and movement, and still promote and maintain a stimulating work environment for those within.
