Eaton, the global power management company has announced the “Call for Entries” for the 41st annual Source Awards. The deadline to submit project entries is Feb. 28, 2018.

With the launch of the 2018 awards, the program undergoes a major change: it is now a student-only competition. The competition program for lighting designers at the professional level, in both the Commercial and Residential Categories, has been discontinued. Instead, the opportunity for professional participation is as judges and presenters. AL confirmed this with Eaton via email. Professionals who are interested in being involved with this year’s awards should reach out to Lynn Meloche for more information. Her email contact is lynnmeloche@eaton.com.

The Source Awards focus “…on furthering the understanding, knowledge and function of lighting as a primary element in design, [and] is open to students currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs in lighting or interior design, architecture, engineering or related disciplines. Students are eligible to enter projects based on conceptual lighting designs and will be judged on creativity and how Eaton’s lighting and controls products are used in conceptual spaces.”

For the program’s 41st installment, the monetary awards are as follows: Winner: $2,000 and Honorable Mention or Special Recognition: $500 each. In addition to the monetary prizes and trophies, all student winners, along with their faculty adviser receive an invitation to attend a lighting seminar at the Source, Eaton’s lighting education center in Peachtree City, Ga.
