Each year, the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) recognizes projects utilizing structural steel to showcase the material’s potential for the organization’s Innovative Design in Engineering and Architecture with Structural Steel (IDEAS²) Awards. This year, the organization selected nine winning structures among entries submitted in five categories. A panel of six design and construction industry professionals identified a National winner and Merit winner in four categories based on total project costs; a fifth category is for non-building structures.
“These projects are tributes to the creativity of the designers and the skills of the constructors who collaborated to make them reality,” said AISC president Charles Carter in a press release from the organization. “Steel shines and soars on their talents and we celebrate the accomplishments these projects represent.”
