LED lighting manufacturer Lighting Science has introduced the Durabulb, a shatter-resistant lamp that uses 80 percent less energy than incandescent counterparts. Designed with a polycarbonate plastic shell to withstand the ware and tear of rough environments and handling, Durabulb provides a robust lamp option for use in industrial settings, construction sites, and garages.
“Lighting Science has always been committed to using light in a beneficial way for human wellness,” says Fred Maxik, founder of the company. “But as the novelty of LEDs has worn off, we needed to find a way to differentiate ourselves without visual or performance compromise to the products.”
The omni-directional 60W replacement lamp consumes just 7.5W, is available in 2700K or 5000K, and can be dimmed with the use of an electronic low-voltage dimmer. Duralamp can be purchased at home improvement retailers in a two pack or recyclable plastic tubs of 10 or 20 lamps.
