The Illuminating Engineering Society New York City Section (IESNYC) has announced that it will continue its Annual IESNYC Scholarship. Applications are being accepted Nov. 1 – Dec. 1, 2016. The merit-based scholarship carries with it a $25,000 purse and continues the Section’s tradition of supporting the next generation of lighting designers and lighting education. In addition to the scholarship, the section also sponsors an annual student lighting competition, presents an annual thesis prize, and administers the Richard Kelly Grant.

The 2017 IESNYC Scholarship is open to first-year students currently enrolled in a full-time graduate architectural lighting program at an accredited college or university in New York State. This past spring, the inaugural scholarship was awarded to Sarah Dlinn, a student enrolled in the MFA Lighting Design program at Parsons The New School for Design.

For further details about the 2017 IESNYC scholarship and the application process, which includes an application form, essay, and two letters of recommendation, go to the IESNYC website.
