The International Association of Lighting Designers has announced its lineup for its two fall conferences. Enlighten Americas will take place Oct. 13 – 15 at the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort + Convention Center in Puerto Vallarta, México, and Enlighten Europe will take place Nov. 13 -15 at the Prague Marriott Hotel in Prague, the Czech Republic.

The Enlighten conference program features educational seminars by lighting design professionals organized in three concurrent tracks—Art, Science, and Professional Tools. While each of the conferences offers a principally different lineup of speakers, some presentations, such as the annual update on the Certified Lighting Designer (CLD) credentialing program, will be given at both events. And one seminar, (in the Professional Tools track) Thinking Outside the Brick and Mortar – Challenging the Usual Business Model, given by lighting designers Andrea Hartranft, Hartranft Lighting Design, Charlotte, N.C.; Barbara Horton, HLB Lighting Design, New York; and Anna Sbokou, Anna Sbokou Lighting Design, London and Athens, will be presented at both conferences.
The Enlighten Europe keynote speaker will be Sakchin Bessette, creative director of Montréal-based Moment Factor, a new media arts studio. His keynote during the 2015 Enlighten Americas conference held in Baltimore, Md. was one of the conference highlights. The keynote for Enlighten Americas 2016 has not yet been announced.
Other scheduled presenters for Enlighten Europe include Kaoru Mende, Lighting Planners Associates, Tokyo; Peter Raynham, University College London, London; and Anne Bureau, Wonderfulight, Bordeaux, France. The student workshop will be led by Derek Porter, Derek Porter Studio/Parsons School of Design, New York.
Confirmed speakers for Enlighten Americas include Helen Diemer, The Lighting Practice, Philadelphia; Elias Cisneros, 333 Luxes, Mérida, Yucatán, México; Ulrike Brandi, Ulrike Brandi Licht, Hamburg, Germany; Marcel Dion, Marcel Dion Lighting Design, Toronto; and Panos Andrikopoulos, ACT Lighting Design, United Kingdom. The student workshop at Enlighten Americas will be led by educators Paulette Herbert and Greg Clare, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Ok.
