The 2016 Howard Brandston Student Lighting Design Education Grant is underway. To be eligible to participate, applicants must be enrolled as full-time students in an approved academic degree program. Applicants must complete the competition design problem, which this year is to design a lighting scheme for a 2,000 square meter interior public lobby within a 25-story office building. Entries must be submitted by May 23, 2016. All information and the link to download the competition materials are available via the competition page on the IES website.
The Howard Brandston Student Lighting Design Education Grant was established to encourage and recognize students who have demonstrated exceptional professional promise through the presentation of an original and ingenious solution to a supplied design problem. Winners receive a plaque and a grant in the amount of $1,000. Honorable Mention, if awarded, is a certificate and a grant in the amount of $300. The grant is awarded at the IES Annual Conference each year.
