Just in time for summer, the connected home can move outdoors thanks to the introduction of a new waterproof LED smart bulb.
The BR30 Outdoor bulb from ilumi is the first-ever outdoor-rated LED smart bulb, featuring waterproof construction and Bluetooth connectivity that allows users to connect and control up to 50 bulbs at once to a range of up to 150 feet. Homeowners can easily create several ambiances in their backyard with these color-tunable Smartbulbs to entertain guests or set the mood. Two years ago the product won support from investor Mark Cuban on the TV show Shark Tank and is now available to the public.
The BR30 Outdoor is controlled via ilumi’s free application, which contains several experiences and features, such as Vacation Mode, which prompts lights to illuminate at scheduled times to provide additional peace of mind when a homeowner is away; Light Your Routine, which allows users to schedule sunrises or set mood lighting for any occasion; and Music Sync, which syncs a user’s favorite playlist to the Smartbulb, making lights flash to the beat of songs. The energy-efficient BR30 Outdoor produces more than 1000 lumens while consuming 15 watts of power and has a 10-year lifespan, says the firm. The bulbs are available now for pre-order at BestBuy.com and ilumi.co for $69.99 and will begin shipping this summer.
