Project Description

A divisive I-5 on-ramp separated the Seattle neighborhoods of Capitol Hill and South Lake Union. In designing 624 Yale, we set out to connect these neighborhoods on the north side of the new, mixed use, two-tower complex.

Innovative pathways in the landscape design create a permeable site that can be traversed by residents and community members. A central courtyard provides a focal gathering point that visitors can utilize at a relaxed pace. The north tower features a visible connecting stair and rooftop amenity banquet space with sweeping views of Lake Union, the Olympic Mountains and Downtown Seattle that reflects a sense of refinement and sophistication. The south tower balances the north with its speakeasy style lounge, fitness/bicycle amenity, and rustic wood-clad, surrounded-by-nature “habitat” deck. The duality of nature and city is balanced thoughtfully through water, landscape, and material selections throughout the entire site.
