Burrell Mountain Home is a striking, two-story single family residence on Burrell Mountain in Brevard, N.C. The design called for a Norwegian-style home with a distinct “U” shape that centers on an outdoor courtyard and connects the outdoor/indoor space from any room in the home. The concept also fits seamlessly into the natural landscape while complimenting the owners’ personal needs and lifestyle. The clean lines and light colors of the interior fill the home with natural light and warmth while the dark color of the exterior fades into the hillside. The home features a standing seam metal roof, custom concrete countertops, a contemporary gas fireplace, stainless steel cable porch railing and white pine shiplap siding on the sloped exterior and interior ceilings. Two large, covered decks on the front and rear of the home expand on the indoor space for entertaining. An outdoor shower and bike wash area, as well as a finished guest suite downstairs with a separate entrance, are a reflection of the owners’ priorities of sharing their home with friends and family.
