FROM THE ARCHITECTS:
“Timber store in the shape of a house”
DIRECTIONS FOR CONSTRUCTION: “Take 25 cubic meters of planks straight from the sawmill (undried, unplaned).
Stack the walls up as piles (plank – piling strip – plank). Nothing is driven in!
Lay the planks freely on top of each other. Nothing is cut!
Have the sawmill supply four and five meter long planks, what length is left over juts out at the corners.
The piling strips are three layers of planks – in place of the middle layer there is a plank inserted crosswise in the corners. And lo and behold, it all stands by itself!
Construct the floor in the same way as with the coffered ceiling and roof timbers, using structural timbers with girders bound by a coiled wire. The roofing is plywood held in place solely by batten and binding wire. The house stands on stacks of beams laid on thick oak planks.
The whole construction is braced by a steel cable and anchored by eight tubes hammered into the ground.
The boards gradually dry up and it’s up to you when to take them apart again. No planning permission is needed for stocking timber.
From the interior the world comes through in a pleasant zen way, but please do not build other ‘woodstocks’ without us!
