The AIA Santa Barbara chapter has announced the winners of its 2015 Design Awards. Ten projects, nine in California and one in Hawaii, were honored for exceptional design excellence.
The annual awards program recognizes outstanding small projects, residential architecture, restoration and renovation, and urban design projects. Criteria for winning designs include quality of design, resolution of the program idea, sustainable responsibility, innovation, thoughtfulness, and technique. The 2015 jury consisted of Joan Soranno, FAIA, design principal at HGA Minneapolis Office; Heidi Gibson AIA, LEED NC, architect and owner of Studio 2G Architects; and Tom Jones, AIA, professor at the Cal Poly College of Architecture and Environmental Design.
