Project Description
Duke Hall was a collaboration between GUND Partnership as Design Architect and Clark-Nexsen as Architect of Record.
Formerly a building housing the university’s performing arts programs, it is a complete retrofit into a visual arts building including studio spaces, galleries and art history classrooms. The dramatic new lobby features splayed columns that support a new clerestory window and also are a nod to the building’s mid-Century design roots.
The project had two major objectives. The first objective was to establish a functional home for the academic studio arts, design, art education, art history and related programs. The second major objective was to accomplish the physical realignment and reorganization of these academic and related programs.
