Project Description

FROM THE ARCHITECT:

Modern
furnishings retailer Room & Board has taken up residence at the recently
completed 375 Newbury Street.

Designed
by architecture and master planning firm The Architectural Team (TAT),
the reconstruction of this four-story, 40,000-square-foot building on
the corner of Newbury and Massachusetts Avenue required extensive rehab and
structural stabilization, and meticulous recreation of the historic masonry
facade, side by side with the introduction of a four-story addition enclosed in
glass curtainwall.

The
interior by Gensler’s Minneapolis studio incorporates a large visible
circulation stair that defines the arresting core. The two exterior patio
spaces on the Newbury Street side embrace and welcome passersby.
