The sophisticated, transparent offices of this fast-growing San Francisco hedge fund mirror its intellectually rigorous, forward-thinking, and entrepreneurial spirit: polished, without being intimidating; rich in detail, yet spare and clean; invigorating, not chaotic.
Creating an open, workable and sophisticated environment that feels all of a piece was no small feat in a narrow, rectangular space which, having been built for a single tenant, was never intended to be subdivided. Embracing those constraints created opportunities for a more cohesive and dimensional design. Using the ceiling plane as an integrated component of the overall design gives it as active a role as the floors and walls in delineating this challenging space.
Contrasting frames and planes, varying ceiling heights, novel textures, and unexpected choices of fixtures serve to separate the office’s three domains while providing a seamless and cohesive experience.
