Project Description

Djao-Rakitine has developed a collection of outdoor furniture to be used across different urban projects. Its simple and utilitarian design is suitable for different types of outdoor spaces such as streets, plazas, squares, parks and gardens. The collection is solid but slim, minimalist but classical.

The products have been designed to suit all types of bodies and ages and to maximise comfort and reduce operator fatigue. All seating elements have armrest options to help seating and standing positions. They also have generous dimensions for stronger bodies. The design of the collection provides flexibility for different furniture arrangements.

The wood that is used is Iroko hardwood (botanical names Milicia excelsa and Milicia regia) due to its density, robustness, durability and colour. It comes from legal harvesting, with FSC certification upon request. Iroko hardwood ages very well outdoor and is suitable for all kinds of weather. It can either be oiled every year to keep a warm timber colour or be left without any treatment. By natural weathering, it gracefully changes colour into a grey nuance.

A thin steel structure for the seat ends provides the slimness of the design. Stability and rigidity are achieved by running a hidden metal structure throughout the length of the solid wood pieces. With no visible metal welds or screws, the minimalist look of the furniture is maintained. The steel is always protected by zinc coating and a spray application of powder coating. The combination makes the material very corrosion resistant and long-lasting. As a surface treatment, a matt structure powder coating is applied, available in various shades of the RAL chart.
