Project Description
Synlogic is bringing innovative living medicines to patients by using the tools and principles of synthetic biology to genetically reprogram beneficial bacteria.
The project scheme was developed to maximize the functional efficiency of circulation and services to the research spaces, and to provide highly collaborative open workspaces throughout. It was important that the research team felt a part of the general offices. Hence, the main break room was positioned at the crossroads of the general office areas and the main lab. With a large glass partition dividing the two spaces, the flooring finishes continue thru from the break room into the lab, underscoring their continuity. The architectural finishes were selected in a neutral palette to serve as a foil to the client’s art and Star Wars film memorabilia collections, while colorful furniture pieces stand out as artwork themselves. A variety of meeting rooms of different sizes accommodate the clients need for constant collaboration. Part of our budget control strategy was reuse and repurposing of glazing and framing systems as well as lighting. New materials and existing elements were fused seamlessly to create a unified and vibrant environment.
