Project Description
Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School is a non-profit organization located in Washington, DC. Students are encouraged to give back to the community, including participation in local charity events, tutoring, fund raisers, and food/clothing drives.
The new school campus is housed in a 48,000 sft building, and is pursuing LEED Gold certification. The design responds to the irregular shape of the building lot – orthogonal at the West portion, and angling down toward the East. The main common space marks the center of the building and consists of a 3-storey atrium, glazed full height with a curtain wall system. Carlos Rosario International PCS Sonia Gutierrez Campus houses a resource center, English and computer classrooms, culinary labs, a nursing aid training lab, as well as a cafeteria and outdoor balcony.
