Project Description

This project began as a basic interior furnishings project. Soon after exploration of mold lead to discovery of dramatic structural issues with the home. The design evolved and eventually became a complete gut and remodel. This was essentially a rebuild using the existing foundation. The client desired a clean contemporary home that would open up to the view as much as possible. To achieve this most interior walls were removed on the main floor and ceilings were raised where possible. The entry way and stairs were completely redesigned and the use of blackened steel, stainless steel, and wood form much of the defining new interior & exterior architecture elements. These materials are used inside and out as unifying elements in the design. Repetition of the entry bridge railings are used inside as well to help create harmony. The entry way also features a built in sofa table with fused back lite glass and a dramatic chandelier hangs in front of a new bridge that connects the upper master suite to the private office. The bridge also forms a spine that creates an architectural framework for the main floor spaces.
