Project Description

FROM THE ARCHITECTS:

Another Stack is an experimental environment composed of flexible platforms for hosting events, lectures, workshops and everyday gathering in a large commons space. The environment design includes furniture, a large circular drum for image projection, plants and integrated lighting elements. The environment is re-arranged on an almost daily basis by users sitting, working, talking, eating, meeting and even sleeping.

The individual platform elements seat 6-8 people and can be spontaneously stacked and aggregated into larger arrangements to increase flexibility. Although simple in form and playful in shape, the platforms are precisely calibrated to cantilever and balance when stacked to be used as seating, work surfaces and communal tables. The voids cut in each platform lighten the individual units and open alternative possibilities for improvised gathering around these "primitive” communal shapes.
