Project Description
The Lewis residence is located on a sloping, water-front lot on Lake Hiawassee, a private lake in central Oklahoma. The site slope and lake views create a strong connection between the natural environment and the home’s interior spaces, a key design consideration for this residence. The use of large, lake-facing windows blur the lines between interior and exterior spaces of the house, yielding a modern, open entertainment space. The back patio serves as a key transitional element, both spatially and functionally. Distinctive areas of the patio respond directly to the local climate, creating an ideal setting for year-round enjoyment: a screened outdoor dining room with sliding windows can be closed in winter months; a covered, open area with outdoor kitchen and bar remains open for the summer months; and a fully-outdoor, exposed area featuring a fire pit is ideal for cool Spring and Fall evenings.
