Project Description

Arterra continues our tradition of innovation in the design of high density and Transit Oriented Developments.

This 269 unit development in San Francisco’s emerging Mission Bay neighborhood is the First LEED® Silver certified Residential High-Rise in San Francisco. Located just a block from the AT&T ballpark, residents have easy access to a variety of public transportation, bicycle pathways, lush parks, nearby shopping, and a neighborhood library. The living green roof, Trespa exterior wall panels, water-saving fixtures are just a few of the many design elements that make this project sustainable. The units are divided among a 17-story high rise, a mid-rise and low-rise sections; breaking up the massing and optimizing views, light and air. Other amenities include an in-house gymnasium, outdoor decks and above grade parking shielded from the street by urban townhouse units.

Integrated throughout the complex are flexible outdoor spaces, including grass rooftops and public plazas. Deeply recessed windows alternate with accents of orange set in a deep blue field, partnered with white, providing a graceful rhythm and cohesion in response to the varied urban contexts. While receiving critical praise, including by San Francisco Chronicle’s notorious urban design critic John King, the project is vibrant, affordable, environmentally responsible and contributes to the re-envisioned neighborhood of Mission Bay. In his February 21, 2014 “Urban Landscapes” blog, Arterra was named by John King as one of the “10 Towers That Define San Francisco’s Skyline” and in loving the design, said “bright colors are no crime” in his commentary.
