GE + Nichia

GE, through its Consumer and Industrial business, has purchased Emcore’s 49 percent interest in GELcore, the joint venture of the two companies, for $100 million. In addition, GE and LED manufacturer Nichia have announced a strategic alliance to support GELcore. This agreement will combine GELcore’s LED system strengths with Nichia’s phosphor and optoelectronics products.
