Project Description
Spector Group, a leading global architecture, interiors and master planning firm, revealed the design for the new headquarters of ALM Media, a business-to-business information and intelligence company. Located at 150 East 42nd Street, the new 44,000 square-foot space caters to the company’s digital transformation and evolving company culture. Following a detailed workplace strategy effort that identified a focus on connectivity and collaboration, Spector Group’s design revolves around the centrally-located café that serves as the heart of the space. A variety of open and closed meeting rooms radiate from the café dividing the open plan into “neighborhoods” of space. Support space including phone rooms, informal meeting rooms, booths, small team rooms, library/quiet room and formal meeting rooms were carefully placed to create an agile work environment that fosters choice and promotes synergy between teams. “Partnering with ALM Media, we developed a human-centric design supported by an array of technology, enhancing the company’s ‘digital first’ transformation. The resulting space challenges how employees traditionally work and encourages innovative work styles and cross-team collaboration,” said Scott Spector, AIA, a principal at Spector Group. Linear lighting, concrete corridors and a dark blue painted ceiling provide contrast and mark the path of travel, guiding employees towards the heart of the space. Within the cafe and town hall, wood flooring and pops of brand color provide a warm and inviting atmosphere for training programs, events and social interaction. Stadium seating, backdropped with a graphic wall featuring imagery highlighting all of their office locations, provides added flexibility. Spector Group excels at designing custom innovative workplaces for the future, tailored to clients’ specific needs and goals. Some of the firm’s most recent office projects include Heineken USA’s headquarters; Federal Home Loan Bank of New York’s offices; VaynerMedia’s NYC headquarters; DeutschAdvertising’s new NYC headquarters; Magnitude Capital’s NYC headquarters; WeWork’s 222 Broadway space.
