Former Philips CEO Dies

Jack Briody, 72, a former executive at Philips Lighting Company, passed away March 8. Briody joined Philips Lighting in 1969 and moved up the sales and marketing leadership ladder until 1991. After a brief period away from the company, he returned in 1993 as president and CEO of Advance, leading that brand to record sales and profits until he retired in 2001.

Throughout his career and into his retirement, Briody championed the lighting upgrade revolution, continually pushing lighting and energy-related initiatives. Donations in his memory may be made either to the American Cancer Society’s Brick Relay for Life (www.cancer.org) or to the Children’s Cancer & Blood Foundation (www.childrenscbf.org).
