Project Description

In collaboration with Unilever, we developed a swing prototype for one of its brands: Helados Holanda, this project represented a challenge for us, so we started an investigation based on a series of surveys carried out with children with disabilities, to find out their desires and their limitations when approaching playgrounds. The structure supports three types of swings; simple, double and one specialized for wheelchairs, we chose wood to go along the metal structure for its kindness as a material and great aesthetic contribution. The swing that is intended to be used by a kid in a wheelchair, is made by a system that allows the user to climb on it with total autonomy, through a door that is deployed by a crank. One of our objectives was to provide complete autonomy to the user and provide experiences that every child wants and enjoys, considering any user and generates belonging. Inclusive Swing seeks to reintegrate children with disabilities into one of the most important activities of childhood, swing, action that represents not only happiness but therapeutic and motor contributions in child development. Following the idea that the future of design focuses on including and understanding all types of users regardless of their condition, we promote functional and global design with this project.
