Project Description

Stinson-Remick Hall houses both undergraduate programs and research activities for the College of Engineering. The facility supports innovative approaches to teaching and allows undergraduates to be involved in research activities through experiential learning and discovery. See-through glass walls in the commons area allow students and visitors a glimpse of the class 100, 1,000 and 10,000 clean room manufacturing and research environment. The complexities of the facility offer an educational experience on their own with thoughtfully placed transparencies that put clean room mechanical systems in view. By putting engineering on display, the design supports the College’s efforts in recruiting the brightest students, researchers and faculty to the new facility.

Some of the most sophisticated spaces on Notre Dame’s campus reside in Stinson- Remick Hall, including the Interdisciplinary Learning Center, Materials Characterization Center, Energy Center and Center for Nanoscience & Technology.

The gothic architecture communicates the distinct character and brand of the University of Notre Dame campus. The facility’s LEED Gold certification embodies the viability of highly complex laboratory buildings as sustainable structures. For more information, visit http://www.bsalifestructures.com
