Project Description

The University of Hawaii Information Technology Center consolidates IT administration, operations, and support infrastructure into one 70,000-square-foot facility located in the heart of the Manoa campus.

A state-of-the-art Data Center provides different ways in which digital information can be obtained and transformed; a Help Desk offers computer support online, wirelessly, or in person; training rooms facilitate classes and broadcast opportunities; video conference facilities support distance learning, multi-media displays, broadcast and archiving opportunities; and a digital media production centerfurnishes high-end editing stations with advanced audio support, sound booths, training, and presentation capabilities.

Daylighting strategies, including vertical fins and horizontal light shelves to reduce cooling loads, combined with Displacement Ventilation to reduce energy use. The building is an educational tool, sharing the advancement of information technology with the positive benefits of sustainable technologies employed: renewable energy, water catchment, biodiversity and green walls, daylighting, healthy indoor air quality, conservation of resources, and recycling.
