Muir Named Director of U. Utah School of Architecture

On June 30, the University of Utah named Prescott Muir as director of the School of Architecture, a department within the College of Architecture + Planning. Muir, who founded Prescott Muir Architects in Salt Lake City in 1976, has designed many buildings in Utah, including the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, the Ethel Wattis Kimball Visual Arts Center at Weber State University, and the Pleasant Valley Branch Library. He also oversaw AIA Utah’s first annual carbon footprint competition for architects in 2008. Muir has been an adjunct professor at the university since 1993, teaching design studios for graduate architecture students. A member of the AIA College of Fellows, Muir previously served as the president of AIA Utah.
