The 2016 Next Generation Luminaires (NGL) Outdoor design competition is now open. Written intents to participate are due online by Jan. 18, 2016, and judging will take place in March. This year’s program comprises three categories: Luminaires for Pedestrian Scale Focused Evaluation; Luminaires for Controls Focused Evaluation; and Other Luminaires. Products submitted must be complete luminaires that are ready for specification. Replacement lamps or modules that must be combined with other products in order to be specified are not eligible for the competition.

Entries for the indoor version of the competition were due on Dec. 4, 2015. The winners of both the indoor and outdoor categories will be announced at the 2016 Lightfair conference and tradeshow to be held from April 26 to 28 in San Diego.

The NGL competition launched in 2008 to encourage the design of LED luminaires in commercial lighting applications while helping designers better understand the fixture market. For full details about this year’s competition, visit ngldc.org.
