Architecture Adds 500 Jobs in August

The latest figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show slight job growth in architecture and landscape architecture, but a loss of 2,300 jobs in engineering and drafting services.

Despite posting losses for two straight months, the architectural and engineering services sector fared better in job growth in September than in August. Today’s release from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the overall sector lost 200 jobs in September, but lost 4,200 jobs in August. The September jobs report also includes more detailed insights into how specific industries fared in August.

Architectural services added 500 jobs in August, less than half of what the industry added in July.


Landscape architectural services added just a little bit less than architecture. In August, the industry added 400 jobs.


Engineering and drafting services took a hit in August, losing 2,300 jobs.
