Don’t rush to make reservations–the floating hotel project developed by Salt & Water design studio is still just a concept, although the plans recently won the Millennium Yacht Design Award, and a floating vacation could be a real opportunity soon.
The project is developed with the aim to promote tourism on inland waters that offer wonderful examples of untouched (and often neglected) nature. Here, the floating hotel would be a perfect solution for tourism without any violation of the natural harmony of the place itself.
The floating hotel comprises a central floating building that serves as a reception area, restaurant, and offices, but hotel rooms are replaced by individual catamarans. Each catamaran can house 2-4 adults, and they easily separate from the dock to allow guests to choose their ideal location to vacation.
According to Salt & Water, “Catamaran-apartments can be considered as ‘frames of the nature,’ connecting the guests with the water and the sky, and isolating them from [everyday stress].”
Each catamaran consists of two levels, with a salon, galley, bathroom, and hall (with storage) on the first floor, and a sleeping area on the second floor above the salon. If housing four adults, the salon quickly converts into a second sleeping area with a double bed. The unusual shape of the catamaran allows for large windows in the front, that allow guests to view the landscape around them uninterrupted.
