Hobbit Home Happiness

1 MIN READ

You don’t have to travel to New Zealand to see a Hobbit hole, you can make your own for under $100! By building his homes into the ground, just like a Hobbit, he cuts down on material costs and benefits from the natural insulation. His current home is only 80 square-feet and submerged partially in the ground.

“After finding the perfect site, he spent most of his time excavating a space large enough for his needs with a simple pick and shovel. The floor was then leveled and covered in heavy black plastic. Using collected planks of wood, Price lined the walls and nailed the pieces together.”

Price sells ebooks that share his technique for making his small Hobbit-style homes. Check out the full article by Lori Zimmer over on Inhabitat for the full scoop on Price’s minimalist homes.
