Danish architect group COBE has won a competition held to design a new Adidas flagship building in Herzogenaurach, Germany. The rhombus-shaped structure, called Adidas Meet & Eat, is an addition to the athletic gear company’s World of Sports campus that aims to gather athletes, visitors, and employees under one roof. The design includes meeting and conference centers, a restaurant, and a showroom.

The roof, featuring vertical, concrete fins enclosed by glass, is symbolic of the brand’s iconic striped logo. Boasting flexibility and multifunctionality, the 11,000-square-meter (118,403-square-foot) structure accommodates different seasons with collapsible floor-to-ceiling windows. The transparent walls and semi-transparent ceiling allow for natural light as well as cross-ventilation when collapsed, which will reduce the structure’s need for air-conditioning.

Designers from COBE cited the Adidas philosophy (performance, passion, integrity and diversity) as influential to their design.

COBE beat out 29 other teams— including REX, Sauerbruch Hutton, and Zaha Hadid Architects—for the project, which is slated for completion in late 2018.
