Another Look at Hans J. Wegner’s Down Cushion Sets

Carl Hansen & Son pulled these double- and triple-seat sofas out of the archive

1 MIN READ

Carl Hansen & Son is reintroducing Dutch designer Hans J. Wegner’s two-seat CH162 and three-seat CH163 sofas, both circa 1965 and originally known as the “Down Cushion Sets” for their feather filling. The sofa’s clean-line frame features legs that widen as they reach the arm rest, accented by a circular wooden plug that hides a screw placed there for easier reupholstering. The cushions are angled slightly within the frame while the upholstery along the sofas’ arms slants inward for a roomier seating arrangement despite the sofa’s rigid look. The frame is available in oak, walnut, and ash wood and comes in multiple finishes and upholstery options. Carl Hansen & Son, 212.242.6736; www.carlhansen.com.
