Furniture made from discarded galvanized water tanks won British designer Guy Trench his first major design award in 2008. With his newfound niche, he created Antiques by Design, a studio that upcycles discarded industrial metal items such as feed bins, oil drums, and farm machinery. His Eco Steel line includes tables and benches made from the galvanized tanks. Trench treats the galvanized metal with an acid to create a lustrous finish on his furniture pieces, which also include coffee tables and dining furniture. His workshop in Essex, England, houses more than 1,000 upcycled products. • antiquesbydesign.co.uk
