PBS Unveils Its List of 10 Influential American Buildings

The list of buildings to be featured in next year’s PBS television special about 10 influential American buildings is up. Structures to be featured on the special “10 Buildings that Changed America” include a state capitol building, an airport, and a concert hall.


The show will be hosted by Geoffrey Baer, who is known for his documentaries on Driehaus Prize winners Robert A.M. Stern, FAIA, and Michael Graves, FAIA.


The 10 buildings, which a panel of historians and architects say “changed the way we live, work, and play,” are:


1. Virginia State Capitol, Richmond, VA
2. Trinity Church, Boston
3. Wainwright Building, St. Louis
4. Robie House, Chicago
5. Highland Park Ford Plant, Highland Park, MI
6. Southdale Center Mall, Edina, MN
7. Seagram Building, New York
8. Dulles International Airport, Chantilly, VA
9. Vanna Venturi House, Chestnut Hill, PA
10. Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles
