Design Studio Achieved LEED Gold Certification

1 MIN READ

This design studio achieved LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The high-efficiency displacement ventilation system moves low-velocity cool air from above down to large, floor-level grills where heating and cooling are delivered at occupant level. Dual-paned, low-E glass in exterior windows reduces the amount of solar heat gain in the building. Other sustainable-design features include building materials made from recycled content, reclaimed water for irrigation and water closets, carbon-dioxide level monitoring, low-emitting materials, daylighting, and views. The building helps the City of Torrance further its commitment to building green; Torrance is one of the cities to sign the U.S. Mayors’ Climate Protection Agreement, which empowers residents and local leaders to encourage their cities to implement smart energy solutions and save money.
